Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education
Offered on USF's Tampa and Sarasota-Manatee campuses (*Option at St. Petersburg Campus)
USF’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education prepares future educators to teach and inspire students in grades K–6. This 60-credit hour, face-to-face program blends coursework with extensive clinical experiences in local elementary schools, beginning in the first semester. Graduates are eligible for °®ÎÛ´«Ã½ teacher certification in Elementary Education, entering the field ready to create engaging, inclusive, and effective learning environments.
What you will learn
Students develop the ability to design meaningful instruction, assess student learning, and differentiate teaching to meet the needs of every child. You’ll learn to create supportive classroom communities, manage learning environments, and apply research-based practices that promote academic, social, and emotional growth. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry, innovation, and integrated instruction across core subject areas.

Career Opportunities
Graduates are prepared for careers such as:
- Elementary classroom teacher (grades K–6)
- Reading or intervention specialist
- Curriculum or instructional support specialist
- After-school or youth program educator
- Positions in community or educational organizations

What to expect
This cohort-based program includes three early field experiences followed by a full-time final internship in a partner school. Students progress through intentionally sequenced courses that connect theory and practice, supported by strong district partnerships that offer a variety of classroom placements. Throughout the program, candidates work collaboratively within a close-knit learning community and gain hands-on experience applying instructional strategies in real classrooms.
