Randi Latzke, Ph.D.
Latzke is a faculty member in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Learning at the °®ÎÛ´«Ã½. She earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of °®ÎÛ´«Ã½, with an emphasis in curriculum, teaching and teacher education.
Latzke’s research focuses on pre-service and in-service teachers’ enactment of classroom practices that support vulnerable student populations and promote equitable learning environments. Her work examines culturally responsive teaching practices, equity-based approaches to supporting underrepresented student groups in undergraduate elementary education programs and the use of school district–university partnerships to strengthen the preparation of first-year and novice teachers. Through this research, she seeks to enhance teachers’ capacity to create and manage classroom environments that support the academic and social success of all students.
Before joining USF, Latzke served for 26 years as a teacher and administrator in the PreK–12 public school system. She currently coordinates the undergraduate elementary education program and oversees all clinical placements for the elementary undergraduate and Master of Arts in Teaching programs. Her areas of expertise include elementary education, responsive classroom environments and behavior management. She also serves on the Anti-Racism Committee of NASUP.
