2026 E-Insights Report

Deaths/Injury Due to Road Accidents

  • Tampa Bay faces an entrenched road safety crisis, effectively “locking in” a position at the bottom among peers (No. 19). The region forms a distinct high-risk cluster alongside Jacksonville and Orlando, suggesting a systemic infrastructure vulnerability unique to these °®ÎŰ´«Ă˝ metros. While the mortality rate surged from a baseline of ~12 per 100,000 in 2013 to a peak of nearly 18 in 2016, the subsequent leveling off at ~16.5 (2020) represents a dangerous new normal rather than a recovery. This stagnation leaves Tampa Bay residents facing more than double the statistical risk of those in best-in-class metros like Minneapolis and Seattle (~4–6 per 100,000). Ultimately, the region’s inability to break this “bottom-tier” ceiling — even as other markets fluctuate — highlights a critical disconnect between regional growth and infrastructure safety resilience.
