About
Anthony Concepcion, PhD, BCBA-D, is an Associate Professor of Instruction and Program Chair for the Online MA in Applied Behavior Analysis at the °®ÎÛ´«Ã½. He also chairs the Child and Family Studies Governance Council and, through that role, serves on the CFS leadership team.
At USF, Dr. Concepcion teaches Applied Behavior Analysis Basic Principles and Practicum IV. He also oversees admissions, curriculum planning, faculty coordination, student progress, and the continued development of the online master’s program.
Before joining USF, he worked as a clinical specialist at the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Neurobehavioral Unit, affiliated with Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. His clinical work included the assessment and treatment of aggressive, disruptive, and self-injurious behavior. He also trained caregivers, clinical staff, graduate trainees, and postdoctoral fellows.
He earned his PhD in Applied Behavior Analysis from USF and his master’s degree in human services psychology, with a specialization in behavior analysis, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Dr. Concepcion also serves as faculty advisor for Beta Chi, the Bulls Organization for Behavior Analysis. His professional interests include behavioral assessment, graduate education, student mentorship, and applications of behavior analysis to sport, exercise, and health. He holds a personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Teaching
Applied Behavior Analysis Basic Principles
Introduces the principles that explain how behavior changes, including reinforcement,
punishment, stimulus control, motivating operations, and schedules of reinforcement.
Practicum IV in Applied Behavior Analysis
Helps students integrate coursework with fieldwork, strengthen professional decision
making, prepare for independent practice, and complete a comprehensive review of the
BCBA Test Content Outline.
